Rhonda L. Maço Biography

Maço counsels and advocates for clients in a variety of personal and professional disputes involving contracts, employment, corporate transactions and personal injury matters. She also represents clients during the purchase or sale of residential homes, advises start-up and existing businesses and obtains trademark and copyright registrations for individuals as well as business entities.

But the journey for Maço began in August 1992 when she commenced studying law and public relations at Syracuse University. While in school, she served as a law clerk to the Madison County Attorney, prosecuting juvenile offenders and researching issues such as environmental contamination and dual responsibilities of corporate directors. Not merely content with her legal ambitions, she nurtured her interest in public relations in two ways. First she worked as a substitute teacher for the Syracuse City School District and developed a District newsletter focusing on child development.  Second, she also audited the New York State Unified Court System’s Public Relations Department to determine how the legal system practices public relations. She also wrote media promotions for Syracuse University’s Athletic Department and Johnson & Johnson. She gained international business relations and diplomacy experience when she traveled to London, England in the summer of 1993 to work as a criminal law clerk for Helena Kennedy, a renowned barrister who is a revered member of the Queen’s Counsel.  In May 1995, Maco received both a Juris Doctor Degree and a Masters Degree in Public Relations from Syracuse University College of Law and Syracuse S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications respectively.

Currently, she is a member of the New York State Bar Association; a Board Member for the Nassau County Women’s Bar Association and a Board Member for The Urban League of Long Island, Inc.  In the past she has served as a member of the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers’ Committee on National Security and the Organization of Women in International Trade. She co-authored the article “Product Recall: Coverage, Pitfalls, and Pressure Points,” in the prestigious John Liner Review.  Currently, she produces a quarterly newsletter which focuses on issues related to real estate transactions.
Maço frequently lectures at various educational institutions on issues related to employment, diversity and good business practices.  She offers seminars and training courses in these areas to organizations and businesses seeking to implement effective employment practices.  She also lectures to students in secondary and post-secondary schools on career paths and finding your passion.
